The company was founded in 2008 by Paul Mattin, a former Royal Marines Officer with 24 years of experience as a Mountain Leader, expedition organiser and leadership trainer. Amongst his numerous experiences Paul has: skied 1500 miles to the South Pole and back; led teams in numerous operational environments including the Balkans, Belize and Afghanistan; trained Royal Marines officers, mountain and arctic specialists and senior NATO Officers; lived and worked in Norway, and yomped from Exeter to London in five days to raise over £50,000 to help victims of the 2015 Nepali earthquakes. He has a number of teaching and coaching qualifications and is a certified NLP and SDI practitioner.

The people who work alongside Paul at Wilderness Solutions are drawn from diverse backgrounds and offer a breadth of skills and experiences in leading and being part of high performing teams and organisations.
